Clear, concise, easy to read content
Clear, concise, easy to read content is essential for effective web pages. Readers are rapidly turned off by content that is too complex or wordy and go somewhere else to find the information they are looking for.
Content needs to be well structured, information rich, interesting and targeted at the audience. Information needs to be clear and easy to understand to ensure that it is available to as many people as possible whatever their ability.

In practice this can be achieved by providing a clear, concise easily readable summary, followed by more detailed and complex information that people can drill down into for the information they need. This enables everyone, from people with problems reading to skilled readers, to quickly assess if the page contains the information they are looking for and access that information at the level and detail they require.
Dedicated content team
Ecru has a dedicated content team, including a published author and proof reader. This leverages our ability to deliver websites on time and on budget. Website managers and communications team staff tend to be very busy and creating content for the website is often pushed down the priority list, leading to huge delays in website completion. Our content team short-circuit this process by creating 'straw man' text for pages. This is text that is researched, considered and informed and kick-starts the content process. It is far quicker and easier to edit text than to fill a blank page. In many cases our clients like the text created for them so much that they make very few or no changes. As a result of this process our websites are delivered on time and on budget with no fuss.

Easy read
Readable, information rich text, bringing complex subjects alive - read about the Champions of Justice website
Easy read text is a particular form of writing that uses words and pictures to present information in a way that can be understood by people with a reading age of around seven and above. It is usually used to make content accessible for people with cognitive difficulties or learning problems. However easy read text is also an excellent way of ensuring that as many people as possible can access and understand the content of your website.
When we produced the Crown Prosecution Service Core Quality Standards in Easy Read form many people benefited, including: people with cognitive difficulties, learning problems, English as a second language, dyslexia, and people who simply didn't have the time to read the full complex document.
Plain English
We use Plain English and easy read techniques to help all website visitors rapidly assimilate the information presented to them on the page, and navigate around the website. These techniques are used in subtly different ways to help all audiences' access information.
The usability and accessibility of our websites, both in terms of the code on the page, the structure of the website and the content can be assessed by user testing. Usability and accessibility testing give you a huge insight into the way people access information on a website and whether your website is achieving the goals you have set. We have experience of running usability, accessibility and user testing for many major clients including Governmental organisations and corporate clients.
